This tree was snapped off at the base.
Unfortunately, the stream crossings were pretty washed out also - but somehow I made it across all of them without getting my boots wet. Where the trail leaves the brook, it climbs steeply up a drainage channel which was completely wiped out with hazardous and slippery footing. Not good when I am the only soul around and no cell service here on the south end beneath Cadillac Mountain. I was very happy when I reached the open granite ledges at the summit of the triad.

These trees look to have been leaning for quite some time |
Cedar planks through low-lying pathways |
Now heading through old growth woods to Jordan Pond |
Fading sunlight through the trees |
And then there is magnificent Jordan Pond |
This deer had no fear |
I stepped to the left side |
Amazingly, it seemed she might stroll past me on the trail, but she turned into the bushes |
Continuing around the south end of the pond |
Sun about to set behind Penobscot |
At Jordan Pond House to catch the shuttle |
