We heard the best fishing around is Otter Creek Reservoir, so we spent a couple nights at the state park there, which Joey our Kodachrome park ranger was so nice to set up for us - thank you Joey! We decided it wasn't necessary to tow the 5th wheel up, instead we would try out the new tent. Well, if the hours spent packing and loading stuff in the truck are added to the hours spent constructing the tent and the inconvenience of things left behind, we decided it would have been much easier to bring the RV! And, the first evening was somewhat reminiscent of Willard Bay (which will live in my family's camping lore forever and is a story told over and over at family gatherings each year); similar to Willard Bay, the mosquitos at Otter Creek were thick and angry (apparently they had sprayed the campground the night before, and all it did was piss them off). So we doused ourselves thoroughly in "off" and tried to eliminate any who had managed to gain access inside the tent. I think we got to bed a little after midnight. It was also a very noisy campground - not at all like the fabulously peaceful and quiet Kodachrome. The next day was "free fishing day" in the state of Utah, and we got a 7 am start using Gary's Zodiak boat - but the first 2 hours we were completely skunked using bait worms. So then we switched to trolling with a lure and immediately got a bite. We fished most of the morning and evening, and ended up with 4 small (1 to 1.5 lb) and 1 large (4.5 lb) trout. Not a bad day fishing!
The nice RV spots at the state park back up onto the lake (our RV would have fit in nicely!)...
