After our morning walk at Great Head, we went into Bar Harbor to wait on standby for a cruise on the 4-masted schooner,
Margaret Todd. We arrived about 30 minutes before sail time to get on standby and met up with friends from work for the cruise. It was a full boat but we did manage to get on! It was windy and cold out on the water (note the scarf and hood). They only put up half the sails due to the high winds. It was a nice quiet ride though and a pleasant way to see the islands and scenery around Frenchman Bay. My only disappointment was that their old dog
Maggie the Newfoundland was not on board for this trip.
On the way home, we stopped in at Sweet Pea's, a new eatery at the
Bar Harbor Cellars Winery just a few miles from home, to try some of their specialties - everything fabulously fresh, including specialty goat cheeses, wood-fired pizza and blueberry wine. Finally got to try some
fiddleheads, a regional treat harvested from fiddlehead ferns in spring before the fern unfurls - yummy and very good for you!
While at Sweet Pea's, we also caught a few moments of the entertainment - a wonderful duo on double-neck guitar and cello (they also sing) called
Acoustic Eidolon - wow, I'm a fan!
