"Difficult" campground and the "East of Aspen" trail

Our campsite at "Difficult" (named possibly for the hiking trail which heads out from this campground?) had lots of privacy, surrounded by aspen and wild berries...it was very wet here, as evidenced by the heavy undergrowth.
footprints of a critter on the deck - racoon or marten? I saw a marten in the campground

Twice during our stay, I walked the "East of Aspen" trail which ran about 4 miles, between Aspen and our campground, along the protected areas of North Star Preserve and James Smith open space. The trail also continued into Aspen, connecting with other trails along the Roaring Fork river, including the Rio Grande Trail which runs 40+ miles from Aspen to Glenwood (we rode a bit of this trail while in Aspen).

Entry into Difficult campground is a road through wetlands...lots of wildlife here.

A view of our backyard at Difficult...and sunset through the aspens....
