June 15 - 16: Capitol Reef National Park - Fruita Campground

After leaving Kodachrome, we headed to Capitol Reef National Park and were lucky to get the last campsite in the first come, first serve campground - and it was a lovely shaded spot (very nice in the heat). This campground is in a beautiful orchard planted by the original Mormon settlers where at times, you can pick all the fruit you can eat!

Unfortunately, we never got around to ordering homemade pie in the historic home - and have learned from fellow travelers since, that we really missed out! So we'll have to make it back to this campground sometime.
