June 13: A second day touring Bryce

Another rainy forecast, and no rain - very nice for a second visit to Bryce. Above is Inspiration Point, another viewpoint into the Bryce Ampitheater. Below is a view in Fairyland Canyon which is just north of the entrance into the national park.

We decided to head down Hwy 12 into the town of Tropic and hike the Tropic Trail up into Bryce, which connects with the Peek-a-boo Loop and Navajo Loops in the Bryce Ampitheater. Here's a view of Inspiration Point from the canyon floor.
It looks very different from the canyon floor; there is more distance between the groopings of hoodoos, than there appears to be from the upper viewpoints.

The Tropic Trail was a much easier hike into the canyon floor than hikes down from the top (and then back UP)! It was a very easy, gradual walk up about 2 miles, and then back down, for which Gary kept griping that he wished he had his bike (not allowed in the national park trails, sorry).
