June 17 - 19: On to Arches, after a brief visit to Goblin Valley State Park

We made a brief stop in Goblin Valley State Park for a picnic lunch. The goblins were neat, wish we'd had time to hike around a bit more. I thought it should have been called mushroom valley (turns out that's what it used to be called). It is a nice park for a quick visit, but we both agreed....it's no Kodachrome!  :-)

Then we headed to Moab, staying at OK RV Park - which is okay, I guess...Getting a spot at Arches campground is tough, plus it is super hot (thought it might be) - so we wanted electric. Unfortunately, found out after we were here, that Dead Horse Point State Park has electric (!)....had we known that earlier,  we most definitely would have been staying there!  However, it worked out great because we have terrific next-door neighbors Olivia and Brett with whom we've been enjoying evenings the past few nights; we'll be meeting up with them again near Rocky Mountain National Park in a couple weeks.

It has been so hot, neither of us has been up for long hikes, so our first visit to Arches was just the scenic drive and a couple short stops. (It was Saturday also, and some of the parking lots for trailheads were actually full!) Also, the it has been very hazy, mucking up what would be some fantastic vistas!

We did enjoy the short hike to view Delicate Arch, which was described as "tiny" in one of the online guides I read, but didn't look tiny at all to me!
Hope we can get back to Arches before we leave; would like to do at least the trails in the Windows and Devil's Garden sections of the park.
