May - June 2010: Farewell to Kodachrome - we'll be back!

We enjoyed camp hosting and could not have asked for nicer people to work with! Many thanks to Joey, Aaron, Brandon, Bowdie, and our fellow hosts Frank and Debbie, and Alex and Tina, for helping to make this such a great experience. Really, these folks are all terrific - and it's the people you work with who make all the difference in whether you like the "work". Plus we met lots of interesting people from all over the country and the world. Of course, every day we received comments that Kodachrome was the nicest, cleanest campground they'd ever seen (true! we chose Kodachrome based on the reviews which were 10's across the board) and sometimes folks offered Gary money which of course he refused (tips?) for cleaning their campsite. We were sorry to leave. We're definitely "sold" on hosting, and have already committed to another hosting position, this time for the national park service at Zion later this year!

On our last weekend in Kodachrome, we had a brief rain shower and then a farewell double-rainbow! The reds were amplified by the rain, and the skies were dark and stormy; it made the spectacular scenery come alive. So, just after the rain, we finally rode the Panorama Trail - the only trail in the park we had not yet done. Panorama is a 6-mile loop which is a very fun ride; wish we could have done it a few more times. So that's on our to-do list when we get back to this park, perhaps on our way back to Zion.

Gary had lots of fun cruising around on the gravel roads in the mule, so we of course had to take one final cruise around the park. Gary wishes we could take the mule with us!
