2014-06-25 Rain in the morning, then a shuttle ride to the Ocean Path

The free Island Explorer shuttles started running on June 23. We took advantage of the free ride when we arrived at Blackwoods Campground after hiking Cadillac Mountain. The shuttle took us back to Bar Harbor where Gary had parked the truck. The free shuttle is the easiest, most convenient way to get around, particularly when most trail head parking is limited and usually full!

Wednesday, it rained all morning and was hinting of more in the evening. I took an afternoon shuttle to Sand Beach in Acadia, to walk the Ocean Path - a very popular mostly level path along the water which is normally crowded. Because of the weather, I had the path to myself and it was fantastic. Too bad my camera cannot capture the scent of wild roses. The rain held off until I had just finished the trail, and conveniently, the shuttle arrived just in time to take me home. Nice stretch of the legs along the 2 mile path, with non-stop views of a beautiful rocky coast.

Even the road was clear of traffic this afternoon

Many short pathways lead down to explore the rocky shore

Wild roses all along the path

Even Thunder Hole was devoid of people!
