July 3: A few hours at Mt Princeton Hot Springs, Nathrop CO

A view to the north from Hwy 24 near Eleven Mile:
Approaching Mt Princeton Hotsprings...
These hot springs were recommended to us by a ranger at 11-mile, who told us about the natural pools along side the river.

We prefer small pools in natural settings to the large swimming pool-style hot springs; this had both. Unfortunately, the smaller "natural" pools along the river had just been opened the prior day, because the river was flowing too high from spring runoff. These pools were really not usable yet; too much ice cold river water was flowing into them. I imagine this would be terrific when the river is lower and more hot water remains in these smaller pools. Maybe someday we'll visit these springs later in the year when I'm sure the natural pools would be a neat experience.
