July 7: Making the most of our time at Golden Gate Canyon State Park


Gary got an early start fishing, and took some time at just about every pond in the state park!  Above is Kriley Pond, below is Slough Pond and the visitor center. I hiked the Beaver Trail while he was fishing the ponds on this end of the park.


Then we tried the northern end - where we hiked to "Dude's Fishing Hole" - had to try this one just because of the name. But alas, still not much luck on the fishing - though the hiking was great!

At Panorama Point, on a clear day you can see 100 miles of the Continental Divide. We didn't have a clear day. But it was a lovely hiking trail from this point down (and back up) to our campground.
