2014-10-19 Woops - dead batteries - back down the mountain!

We had arrived in Shenandoah, unhooked the truck and found our RV batteries to be dead - so completely drained that the hydraulics would not lift the rig up high enough to hook back up! So, back down the windy steep drive to the valley with the truck for new batteries. That's how we spent Sunday - but really, not so bad of a drive. We were there to enjoy see the scenery and explore Skyline Drive, after all...
A little bit of fall colors left...

coming up...the tunnel which caused us to do a 50 mile detour

nice view!

tunnel clearance 12'8"...our rig height 12'8"; too close to chance it, though the ranger at check-in says "hey, I got a secret for you...the tunnel height at the center is actually 17ft....well that's great if we can drive down the center line!

The tower at Luray Caverns

passing through Luray VA to the Tractor Supply Co to buy batteries for the RV

back on Skyline Drive

and the views are spectacular

Grandfather Mountain, can you see grandfather's face on the mountain?

such a beautiful blue sky day

the fall colors are just past peak

lots of weekenders filling up the parking at the view points

Deer are plentiful, and not shy
