Dark Hollow Falls was listed as one of the most popular in the park; it is out-and-back, going down down down and the return trip is all UP. Very short at 1.5 miles round trip, but I definitely wouldn't call it "easy" (granted I had already hiked over 5 miles, so perhaps my legs were getting tired). Gary didn't like this one much (he was tired on the way down!), and I saw many people who were going to have a really hard time getting back up the hill.
Note to self: Next time in Shenandoah, I absolutely must hike
Old Rag, which is
the trail to do in Shenandoah. There's rock scrambling, lots of views, an exposed granite summit...sounds like a blast. Gary wasn't too enthusiastic about a big hike, plus it does not start from Skyline drive but rather from the valley to the east, so we tabled that one.

Note the lady being helped down the trail...UP is gonna be tough |

First view of the falls - this is where most folks turn around |

I believe this is a Garden Orb Weaver Spider - nearly the size of a golf ball! |
