A brief mention of the Acadia Night Sky Festival

What a fantastic event! Each evening throughout the Acadia Night Sky Festival, there are rangers and amateur astronomers at a location within Acadia, providing a voyage through the night skies. There are also photography workshops and other presentations throughout the festival. We attended the finale "Star Party" on the top of Cadillac Mountain - which was a bit like Disneyland with lines and crowds - but definitely an event not to be missed. No parking at the top of Cadillac (because this was needed for all the staff and astronomers with their equipment), so they ran free shuttles from Hulls Cove Visitor Center.

At the mountain top, dozens of telescopes were trained on various constellations and astronomers were there and ready to tell you what you're looking at. In another area, rangers used laser pointers to review the night sky. It was the best night sky event I have ever attended!
